This group is dedicated to the exploration of cabaret culture and the art, culture and style of the interwar period. How you interpret that is up to you and I'd love feedback from members on how they'd like to see this group grow and develop, so Wilkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome, to Blaue Engel.

The name "Der Blaue Engel" is taken from the fictional nightclub in Heinrich Mann's "Professor Unrat" and Joseph von Sternberg's subsequent film, "Der Blaue Engel/The Blue Angel." Heinrich Mann was the brother of Thomas Mann and a political and satirical novelist. Von Sternberg directed a film base don Mann's novel, whose fame and popularity exceeded that of the original book and launched the career of Marlene Dietrich.
